AN-X3 Initial Setup =================== As shipped from the factory the AN-X3 module has the IP address set to LOCAL. In LOCAL mode, the module defaults to a link-local address of 169.254.42.84. *** The module cannot be used in LOCAL mode, it's only for setting the IP address. In order to perform the initial IP configuration, we need to get to the module's web page. To do this, do one of the following: - Assign a temporary IP address using the Prosoft Discovery Service. ** This is the recommended method. - Use the link-local address. - Edit the Config.txt file on the microSD. Using the Prosoft Discovery Service =================================== Download and install the Prosoft Discovery Service from https://www.prosoft-technology.com/Products/ProSoft-Software/ProSoft-Discovery-Service Run the software and look for the AN-X. If the AN-X is accessible from your computer (same subnet), use the IP address shown in the Prosoft Discovery tool in your browser to configure the AN-X. If the AN-X is not accessible, for example if it is using the link-local address, assign it a temporary IP address that is accessible and use that IP address to configure the AN-X. Configuring with link-local =========================== Use link-local IP address to open the AN-X3 module's web page. ** Some computers don't allow access to link-local IP addresses by default. Configuring the AN-X IP Address =============================== When you have access to the AN-X3 module's web page: - Select 'Administration/AN-X IP/FW Configuration' - Choose 'DHCP' or - Choose 'Static' and fill in the IP, Net Mask and Gateway Address - Choose the Firmware Type desired - Press SUBMIT - A warning is shown, press 'Continue' to restart the AN-X with the new settings. When the module restarts, put the appropriate IP address (static or DHCP assigned) in your browser and continue the configuration process for your specific firmware and network. UNKNOWN IP - Editing microSD ============================ - If the AN-X3 module has been set to an unknown IP address - If you're not sure of the AN-X3 module's state - If you're unable to obtain the IP address assigned by the DHCP server - If you're not able to use the link-local address - If you're not able to the Prosoft Discovery Service You can remove the microSD card and modify its IP configuration. The IP is configured in: Config.txt See Config.ReadMe.txt for details. Use notepad or another text editor to modify Config.txt. Here's a sample with a static IP: ;------------- ; AN-X IP/FW Configuration File IP: 10.10.0.110 NetMask: 255.255.0.0 DefGtwy: 10.10.0.1 HostName: AnxAmx Firmware: AN-X3-DCS-SLV ;------------- * Be careful when re-inserting the microSD. Insert it straight into the socket, it's possible to push it above the socket and it will fall loose into the enclosure and the module must be disassembled to get it out (7/64 Hex Key or Allen wrench). Non-Booting AN-X3 or Factory Reinitialize ========================================= If the AN-X3 microSD becomes corrupted and the AN-X3 will no longer boot, or if you want to reinitialize the AN-X3 to factory state: - Download the appropriate factory image file from the QTS web site. qtsusa.com/dist/AN-X3 (AN-X3-AMX-uSD.v4.01.01.img.zip for example). WARNING: This process will erase all AN-X3 configuration files. If possible, make copies of any configuration files on the microSD you need to preserve before initializing it. There are many ways to Flash .img.zip files to the microSD. We recommend Balena Etcher. It's free and seems to work very well. https://www.balena.io/etcher This factory image will have the LOCAL IP address. See Initial Setup at the top. The individual microSD files are available on qtsusa.com/dist/AN-X3 in the appropriate uSD_Files directory.
